## Four questions to ask any cabinet supplier before submittal sign-off

1. **”Show me the mill certificate for the type 304 sheet you used in the 2024 project, not a generic test report.”** Honest suppliers keep the mill cert binder by the inwards goods bay. The cert will tell you the exact heat number, the actual thickness (often 0.9 mm rather than the claimed 1.2 mm), and the country of origin (often Indonesia or Vietnam rather than China/Korea/Japan as the rep claims).

3. **”What does your joint look like in cross-section?”** You want a continuous weld or a tightly-fit mechanical interlock with structural adhesive in the cavity. Anything that looks like butt joint plus silicone in the corner will fail at the 8-10 year mark. A one-minute cross-section inspection on the production floor is more diagnostic than 50 pages of marketing PDF.
4. **”Can you name three projects in our climate zone where your cabinets have been in service for more than 10 years, with the original owner’s contact?”** Most suppliers will say they have references and then not deliver them. The exception is suppliers with a 25-year history in hot/humid climates (Southeast Asia, Gulf, Latin America) where failure modes show up fast. They usually have references on speed dial.
